Obituary
Jodie was born June 18, 1910 to the late John and Velma McNair Tyrus in Coffee Springs, Alabama in Geneva County.
Jodie was united in holy matrimony to the late George R. Haizlip in 1967. She was a loving wife and mother. They shared two sons. The late B. T. McNair (her son) and George Haizlip (her stepson).
She had been a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for many years. She sang in the Sanctuary Choir and was faithful in attendance and an active member of the Church – Wide Women organization. She was an outstanding and dedicated servant to her church and community.
Jodie departed this life, on Friday morning, April 18, 1997 at 9:41 a.m. at St. John’s Riverside Hospital, Yonkers, NY.
Memories will be cherished by her five grandchildren: James D. Wheeler (Linda) of Decatur GA, Jodie Byrd (Clarence) of Montgomery AL, Aquilli Pendleton (Edward), Gail Jackson and Shoen M. Jackson all of Kansas City MO. One sister Venetta Haygood of Macon GA. One brother John Tyrus (Sallie) of Geneva AL, one daughter-in-law Francis McNair of Montgomery AL and one brother-in-law Eugene Haizlip of NY. Ten great grand children and three great great grandchildren and a host of dear relatives and friends.
She will be missed but will remain forever in our hearts.
